About me
My name is Tyler Gallagher and I am a senior at the University of Colorado at Boulder. I am on track to graduate this spring with a major in Environmental Studies and a minor in Atmospheric and Oceanic Studies.
I like to say that my art is an acquired taste; you may not like it at first but it will eventually draw you in. I found my unique style in high school as I would go through sketchbooks, pens, and markers to see what I could do well and what I needed to work on. I soon realized any hope of creating realistic drawings would never pan out. So, I focused on honing my skills of bright colors, abstract shapes, continuity, and just general art that is fun to look at. I was eventually gifted a tablet with procreate to really explore my style and I have used it almost every day.
I have always loved random doodling and abstract drawing. It all started in middle school as I would doodle anything that came to mind in the margins of my notes. I increasingly paid less attention to the material and focused more on a fun image to draw.
I use drawing as a medium to express who I am and what I am feeling. It is a way for me to concretely see what is going on in my head without the need for a literary explanation. Instead of struggling to put words to my feelings I can create a complicated piece that synthesizes my confusing and interconnected thoughts.
